2/2 Bear

Lowlander microblog

Lowlander is a homebrew Magic the Gathering format styled after Canadian Highlander.

Conception

We have been fans of LoadingReadyRun for years. One of their series, North 100, is about the Canadian Highlander format. We wanted to play something like that, but with a smaller financial footprint. Having played Peasant Commander before - a Commander variant with an uncommon as Commander and only commons in the deck - we tried mashing the two together. Over the years, we slightly altered the rules to our liking.

Rules

  1. A deck is 100 cards exactly.
  2. Each card (except for basic lands) can only appear once.
  3. At least 93 cards have a physical common printing as lowest rarity.
  4. At most 7 cards have a physical uncommon printing as lowest rarity.
  5. Skullclamp is the only card worth 2 uncommon slots.

Decks

This is a non-exhaustive list of decks we've made over the years. For more details, check Decklists.
